Extra Credit Paper

Art 103: Art Appreciation Fall 2019 Extra Credit

Due Friday Dec 13 (via email to dghrvy@gmail.com)

2 pages double-spaced

There are 2 options for the extra credit essay. You may do one or both (or neither). Both should be two pages, double spaced.

Option 1: Visit a local museum (The Getty MOCALACMA, and The Hammer are safe bets) or gallery and locate an exhibit or object that interests you  and summarize its appearance, composition, historical context, and your personal response. Several exhvbits we looked at n class - Lari Pittman at the Hammer, Philip Guston (pictured above) at Hauser & Wirth, the Pattern and Decoration show at MOCA, and the Jeffrey Vallance/Constance Mallinson show at Edward Cella Gallery - are still on view.

Option 2: Read a book or watch a movie and write a summary of the content and your personal response. The book or movie should relate to material covered in the class. An example of a good movie choice is Maurizio Cattelan: Be Right Back - a profile of the artist who taped the banana to the wall, which is available for free viewing with an LAPL library card on Kanopy. (It's also on vimeo for now...).
